The SECRET behind sleeper hit "Sound of Freedom"
Angel Studios has a really neat strategy for turning out crowd-pleasers!
The film “Sound of Freedom” has become one of the sleeper hits of the summer, passing even the latest installments of the Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible franchises in box office success.
Angel Studios, the production company behind the film as well as the hit series “The Chosen,” has a unique formula for picking its crowd-pleasing projects, as CBN News recently highlighted.
The Provo, Utah-based studio lets a team of 100,000 viewers field potential projects and vote on what they think should go into production and get funded.
Brothers Jeffrey and Neal Harmon are making waves in the entertainment industry with their unique approach and solid Christian values, something that they have carried with them from childhood.
“We grew up on farms in Idaho, and it was just intuitive. It was also intuitive just because when we were growing up, our parents would share with us films, but they were a very select few that we could watch,” Neal recently told CBN.
“We have young children ourselves. We just said, what we see being created isn't what we want to experience with our families. And so, if I was to ask the families what they want made, that would mirror more of what we want to see made.”
Just five years ago, the Harmon brothers faced a major court challenge from Disney after launching a family-friendly streaming service, VidAngel, that gave viewers the option to watch major films and series with sensitive or inappropriate scenes filtered out.
Amazingly, they prevailed in what can only be described as a true David and Goliath legal victory, and went on to apply their unique strategy to producing films they knew families would love.
“We had this idea, we can raise money through the crowd and because they own part of the network, they are way more conscious and want the network to work and they are helping to market us and defend us. So, we have 12,000 investors who invested in Angel Studios," Jeffrey explained.
A true-crowd pleaser, “Sound of Freedom” has generated nearly $150 million despite politicized negative reviews from the establishment media.

An unnamed Norfolk, England school that is operated by the Church of England has been accused of exposing children as young as 7 to “inappropriate” and “sexually explicit” relationships and educational material.
The Christian Legal Centre (CLC), which is representing the parent, is appealing on their behalf to the Church of England's Chief Education Officer, Rev. Nigel Genders over lessons teaching children that people can be born in the wrong body or identify as “pansexual,” for example.
The Church of England is being asked to intervene and account for why such explicit lessons are being offered in a school run by the Christian church.
In response, Genders affirmed that taking these concerns to the CofE was “entirely the right and appropriate thing to do,” as The Christian Post reported.
“"Given that schools are seeking to do the very best for children as they grow in maturity and mindful of the high profile focus on this area in the media and elsewhere, it will be very helpful to have new guidance from the government on how these contested issues are handled within educational settings. We expect this guidance very soon,” he continued.
The parent in question, however, expressed disappointment that it seems Genders is simply “passing the buck” to headteachers.
"Teaching 7- to 8-year-old children that they can choose their gender (boy, girl, or not sure), and that they are only born 'like' a boy or 'like' a girl, but that it is how they feel inside that counts, is a highly contested and dangerous concept that is not grounded in established science," he said.
He has since moved his two young children to another school after the lessons, which he described as "wholly age inappropriate, sexually explicit, ideologically influenced, and unsupported by scientific basis."
CLC chief executive Andrea Williams noted that “children do best when they understand and are taught that they are made in the image of God and many parents want to send their children to CofE schools because of their Christian foundations rooted in biblical morality.
"How is it that the CofE education authorities and leadership shy away from contending for that truth and prefer to look to the state for guidance rather than the Bible itself?" she asked.

As China continues its aggression in the Pacific, with the contested island nation of Taiwan squarely in the crosshairs, an unprecedented revival movement is sweeping across the land.
China’s repressive government, which has been in the throes of outward expansion for years, has long considered Taiwan to be part of China and uses aggressive rhetoric against foreign figures who refer to Taiwan as independent.
If China were to use military aggression to enforce its perceived authority in the nation, the United States under President Joe Biden has strongly signaled it would come to the aid of Taiwan, a move which could prompt global war.
In the midst of this tension international conflict, Taiwanese Christians have been praying and fasting in unseen numbers.
"The united prayers and fasting prayers of the churches in Taiwan are much more than ever before. It's an unprecedented prayer movement," Pastor Brian Lu recently told CBN News.
Prayer groups have been gathering around the island for 24 hours at a time, praying for revival, repentance, and national unity.
"I believe something so simple is starting to have such a huge impact upon people in the church and also the people around the church," church leader Gordon Huang also told the outlet.
Huang fears that war with China is close at hand, and wants believers to be prepared.
"I think one thing for sure is that people are going to be so shaken and people will want to hear the Gospel. Are you ready or are you going to be on the run yourself?" he said.
Rev. Peter Yang, who has been planting churches in Taiwan since 1978, says he has never seen such interdenominational unity.
"What's happening today is so rare," he explained. "Every day, every week, I join pastors from other churches, other denominations, and we pray for our cities, for our nation for other countries. It's amazing, it's clearly God's doing. Unity will be the legacy of this movement."
Let us join the Taiwanese people in prayer as we lift up the entire international body of Christ in these trying and unprecedented times of global conflict and turmoil.
