Middle school "furries" and Biden's female erasure
Title IX changes, middle schoolers protest "furries," and the Supreme Court lets Idaho ban gender treatments for minors (for now)
Well, it’s official.
Federal civil rights protections meant to ensure women are not discriminated against in the workplace or schools have now been extended to essentially include men, as the Biden administration has redefined Title IX to include LGBT identities as well as “sex.”
This marks a significant move in an administration already defined by an aggressive transgender agenda and poses a severe threat to religious liberties as well as the safety and dignity of women and girls everywhere.
Last week, President Joe Biden’s administration revealed changes to the Title IX amendment to the 1964 Civil Rights Act which now state that it “protects against discrimination based on sex stereotypes, sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics.”
This significant difference, of course, is that rather than simply applying to one’s sex, it applies to one’s sexual orientation and “gender identity” i.e., homosexual and transgender individuals.
The Standing for Freedom Center gave a great breakdown of the issues involved in this radical federal policy change, which does fall short of addressing the issue of allowing boys and men to participates in the sex-specific school sports programs meant to be protected by Title IX.
Most significant perhaps is that the rule change nonetheless “may open the door to litigation if a school or university that receives federal funding refuses to allow students to access private spaces reserved for the opposite sex” and could also force schools to accept a child’s professed gender identity without even notifying the parents, let alone obtaining parental approval.

A school district in Colorado is on damage control mode after a group of students staged a protest claiming that so-called “furries” are being allowed to lick, scratch, and bite their peers with little pushback from school administrators.
Fox News reports that while the Nebo School District in Utah denies such incidents are occurring within the district schools, students at Mt. Nebo Middle School in Payson say otherwise.
"They bite us. They scratch us. They bark at us," one child told livestreamer Adam Bartholomew, who was alerted to the protest held by the middle schoolers against administrators they say simply tell children to be “nice” to the furries.
“Furries” are people who align with a sort of animal identity and dress and behave as such, often in a cartoonish fashion that is often associated with sex fetishes and the LGBT community.
"These kids are mentally ill, and they're trying to force their illness upon us,” another student, who said her peers dressing up and behaving as animals are between 10 and 13, told Bartholomew.
The children sported signs reading "Don't brainwash us" and "Compelled speech is not free speech,” as The Blaze reported.
According to Fox News, the school district claims that the claims of “furries” is entirely unfounded, however, attributing the story to creative wardrobe choices.
"We want to assure you that rumors circulating online about student behavior are completely untrue," the district reportedly says. "These are 11 and 12-year-old students, and while sometimes these children may come to school with a headband that has ears, sometimes with giant bows, and sometimes dressed as their favorite athlete, there have been no students attending school wearing masks, animal costumes, or acting like animals."

The United States Supreme Court has ruled that an Idaho law banning the use of cross-sex hormones, puberty blockers, and plastic surgery for minor “sex changes” may be enforced amid ongoing litigation against the legislation.
Idaho’s Vulnerable Child Protection Act was temporarily blocked by Clinton-appointed U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill in December following a lawsuit brought by the ACLU against the state on behalf of just two teenage plaintiffs.
Supreme Court justices, however, voted 6-3 in favor of turning over Winmill’s ruling last week, as The Christian Post reported.
"In recent years, certain district courts across the country have not contented themselves with issuing equitable orders that redress the injuries of the plaintiffs before them, but have sought instead to govern an entire State or even the whole Nation from their courtrooms," wrote Justice Neil Gorsuch, who was joined in his opinion by fellow reliably conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
Meanwhile, the ACLU responded by decrying the decision as “awful” for the families of transgender teenagers in Idaho.
"Today's ruling allows the state to shut down the care that thousands of families rely on while sowing further confusion and disruption," attorneys for the legal organization said in a statement. "Nonetheless, today's result only leaves us all the more determined to defeat this law in the courts entirely, making Idaho a safer state to raise every family."
There is a term used to describe the way the left leverages lawsuits and the court system to enact its agenda: lawfare.
It’s apt in this case. The people of Idaho have elected representatives to pass legislation that is in line with their values, and they have done so in this case. Meanwhile, a left-wing activist group is trying to challenge the people’s self-governance.
Typical story — but with an educated, active, and vocal populace, we can and must continue to fight against this well-funded activist movement with our voices and votes.
This year more than ever we must mobilize to resist this dangerous agenda!
