Biden Admin Expands Title IX Protections for Women to Include Men
Civil rights protections meant to protect women from discrimination have now been expanded to include a host of LGBT identities, posing severe threats to women, girls, and American civil liberties
Well, it’s official.
Federal civil rights protections meant to ensure women are not discriminated against in the workplace or schools have now been extended to essentially include men, as the Biden administration has redefined Title IX to include LGBT identities as well as “sex.”
This marks a significant move in an administration already defined by an aggressive transgender agenda and poses a severe threat to religious liberties as well as the safety and dignity of women and girls everywhere.
Last week, President Joe Biden’s administration revealed changes to the Title IX amendment to the 1964 Civil Rights Act which now state that it “protects against discrimination based on sex stereotypes, sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics.”
This significant difference, of course, is that rather than simply applying to one’s sex, it applies to one’s sexual orientation and “gender identity” i.e., homosexual and transgender individuals.
The Standing for Freedom Center gave a great breakdown of the issues involved in this radical federal policy change, which does fall short of addressing the issue of allowing boys and men to participates in the sex-specific school sports programs meant to be protected by Title IX.
Most significant perhaps is that the rule change nonetheless “may open the door to litigation if a school or university that receives federal funding refuses to allow students to access private spaces reserved for the opposite sex” and could also force schools to accept a child’s professed gender identity without even notifying the parents, let alone obtaining parental approval.
