I respectfully disagree in my eyes an embryo frozen or not isn't yet a living person until it's implanted into a mother I know scientifically and biologically that's incorrect but as someone who is pro life and tried for having children naturally to no avail so I'm for any procedure that would attempt to fulfill the hopes and dreams of becoming a mother

Thank you for this article, Elizabeth.

Please allow me to share also that according to Catholic teaching, IVF is not greatly wrong simply because it discards microscopic human beings.

There is also the wonderful reality that God desires the creation of human life to come from the total reckless Love between two persons, persons who are able to know and to love another as immeasurable in worth beings, which is to say intellect and will, the human being, the human person.

This is in fact what it in part means to be made in the image and likeness of God.

Man and woman and child is a picture of the trinitarian nature of god, and the relationship between man and woman is a picture of the relationship between the Creator and the creature, or derivatively between Jesus and the church.

The Creed says that the eternal son proceeded from the father, god from God light from light true God from true god, and this is precisely echoed by Adam when he exclaims at last is this bone of my bones and flesh of My flesh.

For, just as the eternal son completely proceeds out from the father of the same substance of divinity, and yet another person, so woman flows out from man of the same substance of priceless human essence, yet another person.

Man then, with a proceeding sexuality, penetrates the inner vessel of the receptive nature of woman and there infuses the seed of life.

In a similar vein, the seed of the mysteries of Truth and grace, proceed from the eternal son and are infused into the inner being of the church and into us, our inner souls which is a receptive vessel like the woman.

Then from this reckless sharing of love between man and woman , another priceless being of the same substance, which is to say a priceless human creature like the father and mother, yet a distinct person, all this pictures that the immeasurable infinite love between Father and Son in eternity is the holy spirit, of the same Divine substance yet a third person.

Finally, after the child emerges from the woman's womb, and she cradles it in her arms and cherishes it, she then hands it back to the father, and this spiration of love between three persons is exactly what happens in the trinity.

The seed of the substance of the mysteries and love of the inner Essence of God proceeds from the father into the eternal son and then the eternal third person proceeds back from the son to the father.

This is one of the central mysteries of human existence and it is the reason and it is for this grave reason that all human life is meant to come into existence by the sharing of the love of persons, of man and woman in marriage.

To try to create human life apart from this Divine love which is an image of the Divine love and the trinitarian and christological nature person, it will then begin to cause humanity to consider a human being to be just a scientific byproduct, or even just a machine, instead of a creature that is made by love and is meant for love.

I hope this helps. If you would like more information, I can give you a link that explains a deeper sense of human sexuality and also goes into other teachings like how unnatural birth control is a terrible affront to the above theology, and how its widespread acceptance about a generation ago has led to the twisted things like in vitro fertilization and effectively the entire collapse of human sexuality morals as we know it, just as Pope Saint Paul the 6th in 1968 prophesied with humanae vitae, with the Great encyclical that responded to the sexual revolution reaffirming the 2000 year Christian tradition that unnatural birth control is a grave affront to the love and dignity of man and woman and it could lead to a total collapse of morals in society if it was embraced enmass
