Expert psychiatrist warns that "gender-affirming" care is dangerous for kids
“We were being told to intervene in healthy, functioning bodies simply on the basis of a young person’s shifting feelings about gender.”
An esteemed Finnish psychiatrist who was involved with pioneering standards for “gender-affirming” care is now warning that the push to normalize such treatments has been dangerously politicized and ignored glaring warning signs.
In a lengthy piece for The Free Press, Dr. Riittakerttu Kaltiala recounts her involvement with the development of the then-novel protocol for treating children who experience what is known medically as gender dysphoria in her expert field of adolescent psychiatry, the “Dutch protocol.”
She explains that the protocol was developed after Dutch clinicians published a groundbreaking paper purporting that a select group of gender dysphoric children who went on to thrive when they were “socially transitioned” and underwent medical treatments to appear as members of the opposite sex.
As chief of the adolescent psychiatry at one of Finland’s most important teaching hospitals, Tampere University Hospital, Dr. Kaltiala was tasked with establishing her hospital’s services to provide the Dutch protocol.
She explains that this came after the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health caught wind of a robust activist movement to normalize the new approach.
“Even so, I had some serious questions about all this,” Dr. Kaltiala writes. “We were being told to intervene in healthy, functioning bodies simply on the basis of a young person’s shifting feelings about gender.”
“Adolescence is a complex period in which young people are consolidating their personalities, exploring sexual feelings, and becoming independent of their parents,” she continues. “Identity achievement is the outcome of successful adolescent development, not its starting point.”
Dr. Kaltiala explains that she has personally met and evaluated over 500 patients considering transition, a majority of those minors who sought treatment from both of Finland’s gender clinics. Many do not go on to medically transition, and that number has dwindled to just twenty percent in recent years.
When the Dutch protocol services were first rolled out, the patients came in droves, but Kaltiala noticed a major red flag: many did not resemble the patients described by the Dutch researchers.

Tech mogul and billionaire Bill Gates is set to assist the Kenyan government to develop digital IDs for newborns following a series of “closed-door meetings” with the nation’s president William Ruto.
The Children’s Health Defense recently reported that some critics warn the digital documents, which are reportedly to be used to safeguard identity and register for government services, could also be used as a vaccine verification system.
The rollout of the Maisha Namba, as the digital ID will be known, came following a series of meetings between Gates and President William Ruto that were “shrouded in secrecy,” as The Kenyan Post reported.
Alexis Hancock of the digital civil liberties watchdog Electronic Frontier Foundation told the Children’s Health Defense that when governments and private tech entities make secretive deals in this way, it robs the public of its right to scrutinize the services the company may offer.
“Outside companies often pitch solutions to various governments that they can solve their problem with their product,” she explained. “If governments are to implement this, the technology involved should be allowed scrutiny by the people first before anything is deployed, and delayed if it is not considered safe and equitable.”
Others warn that the digital ID could easily be employed for biometric tracking were the WHO to announce another pandemic.
“Maisha Namba – Kiswahili for ‘life number’ – is a biometric vaccination system for newborns that will replace birth certificates and help track children from birth to 5 years of age,” Dr. Wahome Ngare of the Kenya Catholic Doctors Association told Children’s Health Defense. “It will be used to monitor and ensure all children receive their vaccines.”
He points to Gates’ involvement with Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, which works with the WHO, UNICEF, The World Bank, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to vaccinate billions around the world.
“On a deeper level and based on my understanding, Maisha Namba and the Maisha card are part of the larger international ID2020 initiative, sponsored by Gates through Gavi and Microsoft and their failed vaccine passport,” Ngare explained.

Today’s young people are growing up in a world that is chaotic and depraved. It can be easy to lament that they will all be led astray and run far from God.
However, over the last several months there has been a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit over members of Generation Z, who have been showing up in droves to mass revivals and worship events as well as evangelistic outreach campaigns, often prompting spontaneous mass baptisms and hundreds of lives given to Christ.
CBN News reports that a worship event at Auburn University resulted in nearly 200 students being baptized in a nearby lake, sharing their stories with evangelists and expressing a real, authentic hunger for God.
"It was such a move of God," author, speaker, and founder of the ministry IF:Gathering Jennie Allen told CBN News.
Allen recounted that as her event at the school came to a close, a local pastor received a text from a student in attendance asking if he would baptize her.
"I go up on the stage, it was that fast, and I said, 'Hey, there's somebody that wants to get baptized tonight. Would anybody else want to trust Christ and be baptized tonight?' And dozens of hands were raised all over the arena, and it was wild," she said.
Allen said that a large group moved to lake, where students began streaming into the water, accepting Christ and sharing their hearts with ministers.
"We didn't just baptize them, we got to hear their stories and they got to tell us why they wanted to do this tonight, and so many of them were just tired of the darkness that they were living in," she said. "They wanted Jesus and they wanted a different way to live and it was so sincere, it was so sincere, you can see it in their eyes."
Allen has seen a profound yearning for the Lord among members of Generation Z, who are often known for an attitude of cynicism, defiance, and despondency.
"This generation, yes, they may be on paper seemingly not attending church and seemingly not walking with God, but that is prime for revival," Allen told CBN.
"I think it's affecting the world," continued Allen. "Most of them, you know, have lived a pretty non-God existence prior to these moments, and so when you see this happen I think it just it moves all of us."
