VIDEO: Male Employee in Princess Costume Welcomes Children to Disneyland Shop
Disney recent changed rules for “cast members” to allow gendered clothing of their choice
A video of a male Disneyland employee sporting a princess dress and welcoming children to a shop is making the rounds on Twitter, causing outrage.
In the footage, the mustached male employee waves at children entering the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Disneyland.
He introduces himself as “Nick” and tells the children, “I’m here to shop you around and make all your selections for the day.”
The video then pans over princess dresses on display in the shop, as text over the screen says “$250” to “$450.”
The video was originally posted to TikTok by a mother of three who captioned it, “A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you’re fast asleep #disneyland #bibbidibobbidiboutique #corememory.”
Some commenters said that “Nick” has worked in the shop for awhile and that they “love” him.
However, when shared on Twitter, many expressed outraged at the prospect of a male employee wearing a princess dress and interacting with children.
“Absolutely grooming. That is a moment for little girls. Mustache has no business there,” wrote one outraged user.
“Disney is just an LGBT activist organization at this point,” wrote another. “Any sane company would have backed down by now. Disney keeps doubling down because it would rather engage in political activism than return value.”
The Daily Wire notes that Disney has allowed “cast members,” as Disney park employees are called, to wear gendered clothing of their choice, regardless of sex, since 2021.
Last year, Disney was also caught up in the debate over a Florida bill restricting some sexual education in public school classrooms, vowing to work to overturn the Parental Rights in Education Act and committing to producing more LGBT characters and content in children’s programming.
