UMC overturns former bans on LGBT
PLUS: Nancy Pelosi wants to use the filibuster to codify Roe v. Wade into the constitution!
One of the world’s largest Protestant denominations has overturned a ban on LGBT advocacy groups and loosened rules for noncelibate homosexual clergy and officiating gay weddings.
The United Methodist Church has been embroiled in a controversy over longstanding rules regarding homosexuality, and although many Methodist churches are known for being wildly progressive, for years conservative holdouts have prevented changes from being made.
However, the controversy has prompted the exodus of thousands of churches over the last few years (perhaps you’ve noticed that your local Methodist Church has removed “United” from its sign; this is why).
And now, the UMC General Conference has voted to ban funding for LGBT advocacy groups and remove a required punishment for clergy who officiate same-sex weddings.
The Christian Post reported that “The change was among the bulk of legislation approved by a vote of 667-54, which also loosened restrictions on the ordination of noncelibate homosexuals and mandatory punishments for clergy who officiate same-sex weddings.”
The conference also approved other measures, including the overturn of a ban on "self-avowed practicing" homosexual ministers, and paved the way for homosexual pastors to be appointed across the conference.
It breaks one’s heart to think what John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist tradition, would think to see what has become of his legacy. This great man of church history once paved the way for believers to worship in truth and spirit with new boldness in a post-Reformation world, now, the church has gone the way of the world in the postmodern age.
Let us pray as some great institutions fall, others will rise in their place with a new Spirit of revival and repentance! Amen?

Longtime Democratic Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi recently declared that the Democrats ought to use the filibuster to force legislation codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law.
“People have to view abortion as a democracy issue,” she recently told MSNBC’s Katy Tur. “This is about freedom to make your own decisions for a woman. It’s a personal decision, it’s an economic decision at the kitchen table of America’s families, if and when they could expand their families or even start their families.”
“Do you think it’s going to be a more powerful issue at the ballot box this time around?” Tur asked the former Speaker of the House.
Pelosi replied that it was because “matter what [Trump] says, there will be a national abortion ban, and that would be horrible for our country.”
She continued that for the Democrats’ radical abortion plan to work, “We have to win it all.”
“We have to win the White House, with our great president of the United States, Joe Biden, who has a vision for America that is in keeping with the vision of our founders, the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, the aspirations of our children and their families,” she continued.
This is the epitome of pragmatic politicking, to evoke the memory of those who have fought and died to protect our sacred freedoms, which are founded on the right to life, and all the more so for a presentation of her political battleplan to perpetuate eugenics in the United States.
“If President Biden gets reelected and there’s a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate, what can President Biden do to protect abortion nationwide?” Tur asked.
“We can enshrine into the law Roe v. Wade,” Pelosi replied.
When Tur pointed out that this would take two-thirds majority in the Senate, the Congresswoman said, “No it doesn’t. It’s 60 votes is the Senate now but if we win 50-plus-1 in the Senate, 50 plus the vice president, we can overturn the 60-vote rule.”
“The filibuster,” she explained, “and pass it with a 51-vote margin. That’s what we need to do.”

The United States Supreme Court has denied a request to overturn a U.S. Appeals Court ruling allowing a Texas law requiring age verification for pornography sites to be enforced.
On Tuesday, the court released a one-sentence order declining an issue to stay in the case, Free Speech Coalition, et al v. Paxton.
“While the Supreme Court has denied our application to stay the Fifth Circuit’s decision upholding age verification requirements in Texas, our petition for full merits review before the Supreme Court remains pending,” the group, which is representing the adult film industry, said in a statement.
Texas’ HB1181 requires that pornography websites verify a user’s age at the threat of fines of up to $10,000 a day for noncompliance.
Additional fines of $10,000 a day for keeping identification information are also imposed, as well as a fine of $250,000 if it is found that a minor has been able to view explicit content on a company’s website.
The legislation did its job right away — when it was signed by Governor Ken Paxton last year, PornHub, the world’s largest pornography website, announced it was suspending access to the site for Texas users.
PornHub is the most lucrative and powerful website out of sadly far too many that exploit innocent victims for greed and sick pleasure. Millions of people around the world are currently enmeshed in the demonic realm of “adult” media, and sadly children are not excluded from this horrifying world. Even when websites claim that performers have consented and are over the age of 18, this is often sadly not the case.
Texas’ law is certainly one small step towards battling the demonic force of pornography, but it is just that.
We must take the battle to the polls, to the public square, and to our knees in petition to the Lord.
