Trump fires Kennedy Center board members over drag shows
The president appointed himself chairman in their place
President Donald Trump has continued his scorched earth campaign to dominate the culture war with recent firings of the board members to the Kennedy Center.
"NO MORE DRAG SHOWS, OR OTHER ANTI-AMERICAN PROPAGANDA — ONLY THE BEST," the president declared in a post on Truth Social, welcoming his pick as interim director, Ric Grennell, to “show business.”
The Kennedy Center, which was established as the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts by authorization from Congress in 1958 and opened in 1971, has a recent history of blatantly-left leaning messaging behind such events as the famous Kennedy Center Honors.
President Trump was referring to an October event hosted by the government-funded and -operated event center called the Dancing Queens Drag Brunch, as Fox News notes.
The brunch touted the capital’s "most fabulous drag performers” who were picked to represent “the diversity of D.C.’s queer community," the website stated.
"Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP," Trump wrote in his post announcing the rehaul of Kennedy Center governance, adding that he and now-former chair David Rubenstein "do not share [the same] Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.”
The president also described the new chair — himself — as “amazing.” Classic Trump!
"At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN," he declared. "For the Kennedy Center, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!"
Stop Banning the History of our Great Country.
