Study shows abortion pill is 22 times more dangerous than FDA claims

A shocking study reveals that the abortion pill is exponentially more dangerous to women than the Federal Drug Administration leads the public to believe.

The largest-ever study conducted on the abortion drug mifepristone concluded that women experience complications at a rate 22 times higher than what the FDA and the drug’s manufacturer, Danco Laboratories, claim.

Authors Ryan Anderson, president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center and data analysit Jamie Bryan Hall used insurance claims made through Medicaid, TRICARE, Medicare, the Department of Veterans Affairs to examine 865,727 mifepristone prescriptions that were issued to 692,873 women between the years 2017 and 2023.

According to their findings, roughly 10.9%, or 94,605, cases of the chemical abortions these prescriptions produced resulted in “serious adverse effects” including emergency room visits, hemorrhaging, infections, and sepsis.

The FDA, meanwhile, claims the drug is much safer; supporters of the abortion pill point to data indicating complications occur at a rate of just 0.3%.

“This study is the statistical equivalent of a category 5 hurricane hitting the prevailing narrative of the abortion industry,” Anderson told The Federalist. “It reveals, based on real-world data, the shocking number of women who suffer serious medical consequences because of the abortion pill.”

“The FDA should reinstate the original patient safety protocols that were required when mifepristone was first approved. Doing so will likely reduce the harms to women and permit better monitoring to determine whether this drug should remain on the market,” the authors note. “The FDA should further investigate the harm this drug causes to women and, based on objective safety criteria, reconsider its approval altogether. Women deserve better than the abortion pill.”

LifeNews notes that in 2021, the Biden administration loosened restrictions on the drug, allowing it to be sent through the mail and distributed by pharmacies like CVS and Walmart. The Biden FDA also nixed requirements that non-fatal complications.

The study calls on the FDA to reinstate preexisting requirements originally meant to protect the lives of patients and ensure the drug is administered correctly.

Any drug that is taken with the intention of ending the life of an unborn child is unsafe for human life. The fact that this drug harms the baby and many mothers just makes it doubly wicked. Mifepristone shouldn’t be more strictly regulated — it should be completely banned along with all abortion.
