A Christian middle school student’s parents say he was suspended for three days over a discussion with his classmates about his faith.
“She told me that my son had violated Title IX,” the child’s father told radio host Todd Starnes of a meeting he was called upon to attend with school administrators over his son’s “continued behavior.”
The 12-year-old had told some of his classmates at Envision Science Academy in Wake Forest, North Carolina last year his belief that they needed a relationship with Jesus Christ to go to heaven.
When school began this year, the classmates had been taunting the devout Christian child.
“The two kids who had complained interjected themselves into the conversation and ridiculed my son about his faith and how stupid it was,” his father said.
“She said they were going to suspend him for borderline harassment,” he explained. “They took the word of the other kids above my son’s word.”
Attorney Jordan Sekulow of the ACLJ, who is representing the family, says that the school’s punishment “could not be more unconstitutional.”
“The school could not have been more wrong,” he explained. “There are many things public schools cannot do to their students, but one of the most important is that they cannot forbid them from sharing with others their religious faith and belief. Prohibiting a student from discussing Jesus with their classmates is one of the most obvious ways a school violates its responsibility under the First Amendment.”
“We will continue to hold this school, and any school that engages in similarly blatantly illegitimate behavior, accountable to the Constitution,” Sekulow added.

A Georgia teacher has been fired after she read a picture book to students that was intended to introduce young children to the concept of so-called “gender nonconformity.”
Katie Rinderle was dismissed from her position at Due West Elementary School in suburban Atlanta by the Cobb County School Board following the uproar caused by her choice to read “My Shadow is Purple” to children.
“The District is pleased that this difficult issue has concluded; we are very serious about keeping our classrooms focused on teaching, learning, and opportunities for success for students. The Board’s decision is reflective of that mission,” the board said in a statement, as reported by The Hill.
District policy prohibits classroom discussions on gender identity and sexuality.
Rinderle is being reported by the far-left organization Southern Poverty Law Center, which has notoriously categorized churches and other organizations as “hate groups” due to their moral opposition to homosexuality.
“There is no legitimate explanation for this termination,” her attorney said in a statement. “To fire a teacher under a law that no two people could agree on is wrong. Ms. Rinderle, like other Georgia educators, does not know where the lines are drawn when it comes to sensitive, controversial, or divisive concepts.”
The description of “My Shadow Is Purple,” written by Scott Stuart, reads “My Dad has a shadow that’s blue as a berry, and my Mom's is as pink as a blossoming cherry. There’s only those choices, a 2 or a 1. But mine is quite different, it’s both and it’s none.”
Aimed at readers between the ages of 4 and 8, the book quite overtly seeks to describe and promote non-binary gender identity, and its listing on Amazon prompts other suggested titles including another by Stuart that shows a man dressed in a tutu on the cover and a picture book about LGBT “pride” for children.

A new report reveals that California’s assisted suicides spiked to record highs in 2022 as compared to 2021.
This is likely due to legislation passed in the state last year that expanded access to physician-assisted suicide in the Golden State.
LifeNews reports that the California End of Life Option Act 2022 Data Report indicates a 63% increase of assisted suicide and a 47% increase in prescriptions for lethal drugs.
“In 2022 there were 853 reported assisted suicide deaths and 1270 lethal cocktail prescriptions written which was up from 522 reported assisted suicide deaths and 863 lethal prescriptions written in 2021,” the pro-life website reports.
“The report stated that 173 people who were approved for assisted suicide died from their underlying illness or other causes and 294 people received a lethal drug cocktail but their ingestion status is unknown,” it notes.
It’s sobering to consider that nearly 300 people are not known to be dead or alive by the California Department of Health.
What’s more, this self-reporting system means that only doctors who prescribe the lethal drug cocktail are the ones turning in data on the number of assisted suicide deaths in the state, making it impossible to track which medical professionals may have not turned in data or may be abusing the law.
LifeNews also notes that in 2022, the state legislature passed SB 380 which reduced the mandatory 15-day waiting period for lethal drugs to just 48 hours and forces doctors who morally oppose assisted suicide to refer patients to providers who are willing to facilitate assisted suicide.
Pray for those who are turning to assisted suicide to end their pain, that the light of the Gospel would shine in their lives and that they would know the One who will restore their bodies to fullness one day!
