Mothers Outraged After Sexually Explicit Awards Show Aired on Children’s Network
“The sexually explicit content on this program is inappropriate for anyone — especially children.”
A parental advocacy group has launched a petition to hold Viacom accountable for broadcasting a sexually explicit awards show on a children’s network during primetime.
One Million Moms has issued the petition to Viacom, which broadcast the notoriously unhinged MTV Music Awards on Nickelodeon at an hour when children are typically still awake.
The Christian Post reported that the awards show featured scantily clad performers and highly suggestive, sexualized choreography which included ‘hip thrusting, air humping and twerking.”
Perhaps most notorious of all was a performance from rappers Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion of their collaboration “Bongos,” which features blatantly explicit lyrics directly referring to sex acts.
“I am appalled that Viacom would air mature content such as the VMAs on Nickelodeon, its children’s network. The VMAs is an awards show that includes graphic content, and it should never be permitted on a children’s network. I urge Viacom to never allow this to happen again,” the petition from One Million Moms reads.
It calls upon Viacom to “never allow this to happen again.”
The Post notes that some speculated that Viacom was grooming young, impressionable Nickelodeon viewers to watch MTV.
