Has the decline of Christianity stopped?
After years of steadily dropping, the Christian population is suddenly holding steady
There is no denying that secularization has drastically increased in our nation over the last 100 years.
You couldn’t possibly look over the last few generations and miss this glaring disregard for the sacred, and for the Christian principles our nation was founded on.
For years, the faithful have prayed for revival, prayed for an era of immorality and disobedience to God to come to an end.
Lately, however, something has been in the air.
Things are changing…many people, young people in particular, are starting to come back to God.
Hallelujah!
According to a recent study from the Pew Research Center indicate that after years of decline, the Christian population in the United States is now holding steady.
While the percentage of Americans that identify as Christian has dropped from 78% in 2007, its decline appears to have slowed with now 62% of US adults identifying as Christian.
Meanwhile, while the number of religious “nones,” those who do not identify as religious in any way has been increasing for decades, it has now plateaued at 29%, where it has been since 2021.
“It’s striking to have observed this recent period of stability in American religion after that long period of decline,” Gregory Smith, one of the co-authors of the study, told AP. “One thing we can’t know for sure is whether these short-term signs of stabilization will prove to be a lasting change in the country’s religious trajectory.”
On the surface, this may seem like just an insignificant slow in the decline of Christianity, but it may be a small demographic hiccup that could point to a much bigger trajectory.
After all, a lot has changed in our country over the last 100 years, which is only a few generations.
Just consider the long-term implications of raising up today’s children in the fear of the Lord, not merely a sense of obligation to old traditions, but equipped with apologetics, passion, understanding, and fervor for the Word of God and the growth of His Church?
Each child could have an impact on dozens, hundreds, even thousands of people, you never know.
It may sometimes seem like Christians in the US today are fighting a David and Goliath battle, but we must never forget who David had on his side—the Lord Almighty!
One person with God is better than many without.
In Genesis 18:32 the Lord told Abraham He would spare Sodom if there were 10 righteous. We have hope!❤️
