Former Space Force Officer Says U.S. Military Is “Hyper-Politicized” and “Sexualized”
“…something radically, fundamentally shifted under the current administration.”
A former U.S. military officer is warning that the armed forces have been subject to radical change in the last few short years, particularly when it comes to sexuality and LGBT issues.
Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, who was removed from his position in the Space Force in 2021 over similar remarks, recently told The Epoch Times that the military has become a “hyper-politicized and sexualized work environment.”
"One can make arguments that the military became more political during the Clinton, or during the Obama administration," he explained. "But something radically, fundamentally shifted under the current administration with Lloyd Austin in the seat as secretary of defense."
In May of 2021, Lohmeier gained national attention after his comments that Austin’s approach towards “diversity, inclusion and equity” was rooted in Marxist critical theory. He was ousted from the military later that year.
He explains that many members of the armed forces try to take an apolitical approach but this alone is interpreted as political.
These service members, he said "are finding themselves in a hyper-politicized and sexualized work environment at the moment” but that if they oppose the Department of Defense’s hyper-political initiatives, they "are labeled as politically partisan and simply ‘part of the problem’ and are ostracized for it.”
