Christian University Cancels Event With Promise Keepers Men’s Ministry
The change came after the Promise Keepers released a statement affirming their support for biblical sexual morality
A major Christian university has canceled an event with the men’s ministry Promise Keepers after the organization released a statement for “pride” month reaffirming their support for traditional marriage and views on sexuality.
"We will not stand on the sidelines and remain quiet. As fathers, husbands, grandfathers, and young men—we see the dangers of gender ideology and the harm it causes," the offending statement said. "At Promise Keepers, we believe it is more important than ever to stand up boldly for what we believe as Christians. God's Word is very clear on this topic—and we also see the way gender ideology has damaged lives, mutilated bodies, and torn apart families in our own communities."
CBN News reports that just two days before tickets for a planned event at Belmont were set to go on sale, the Promise Keepers say that they received an email from the school canceling.
The organization received an email from the school saying that "due to recent information we realize our values don't align with your values or something to that effect so we can't do the event here."
The event, which the Promise Keepers are organizing in a number of cities across the country, was titled Daring Faith and meant to be a “challenge for men of integrity.”
Keepers CEO Ken Harrison told the Edifi Podcast Network that Belmont told them the reason for the cancelation, ironically, was "the statement we put out a week before Pride week."
Harrison warned listeners that Christian colleges are not teaching Christ.
